Dave Keon among those to speak at public service for Johnny Bower

Hockey Night in Canada's intro pays tribute to the late Johnny Bower.

Toronto Maple Leafs greats Dave Keon, Frank Mahovlich and Ron Ellis will be among those to speak at the Celebration of Life event honouring their former teammate Johnny Bower on Wednesday.

Other speakers include team president and alternate governor Brendan Shanahan and John Bower III, grandson of Johnny Bower. Longtime voice of the Leafs Joe Bowen will be the master of ceremony.

Bower was 93 when he died last Tuesday after a brief battle with pneumonia. The Hall of Fame goaltender won four Stanley Cups and two Vezina Trophies with the Maple Leafs in the 1960s. His No. 1 is retired by the franchise.

Bower has also been an ambassador for the franchise since 1990.

The public service takes place at Air Canada Centre at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Doors at Gate 1 will open at 2 p.m.
