Dave Tippett, Don Maloney future unclear with Coyotes

Elliotte Friedman and Damien Cox discuss the injuries affecting the Penguins and Lightning and coaches who are on the hot seat.

The Arizona Coyotes missed the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, which has led to questions regarding the future of head coach Dave Tippett and general manager Don Maloney.

“One other situation to watch is Arizona,” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said Saturday during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada…”Dave Tippett and Don Maloney have done a great job under very difficult circumstances but there are rumblings. Tippett has an out but it’s believed he wants to stay.

“(I) don’t know Maloney’s status. He, like many people in the organization, are not commenting.”

Tippett has compiled a 252-214-73 regular-season record in his tenure with the Coyotes organization along with a 12-15 playoff record.

The Coyotes will finish 10th place in the Western Conference this season but the organization has accumulated several intriguing young players and are well positioned for the future.
