Defenceman Jared Cowen joins Avalanche on PTO

Jared-Cowen

Damien Cox reported Saturday that in addition to defenceman Jared Cowen being sent home to await a buyout by the Toronto Maple Leafs, he can begin talking to other teams about a new contract ahead of July 1st.

The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenceman Jared Cowen to a professional tryout agreement.

Cowen spent all of last season rehabbing his hip after being bought out by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs acquired Cowen from the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 9, 2016, in the deal that sent Dion Phaneuf to the nation’s capital.

The ninth-overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft has 15 goals and 46 points in his 249-game NHL career.
