Detroit Red Wings star forward Pavel Datsyuk underwent ankle surgery Friday, the team’s general manager Ken Holland told reporters Friday in Florida at the NHL Draft.

Despite battling various injuries throughout the 2014-15 campaign, Datsyuk registered 65 points in 63 games and was nominated for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

The 36-year-old will wear a cast for the next four to six weeks, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
