Devils place Brian Boyle on injured reserve with upper-body injury

Cancer survivor Brian Boyle completed his first career hat trick at the Penguins’ Hockey Fights Cancer night in Pittsburgh.

The New Jersey Devils have placed forward Brian Boyle on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, the club announced Tuesday.

To fill Boyle’s spot in the lineup, centre Pavel Zacha was recalled from AHL Binghamton.

Boyle, 33, has six goals and an assist in 15 games this season.

The Devils will also be without centre Nico Hischier for Tuesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is currently listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury that he suffered in Sunday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Jean-Sebastien Dea, who has been a healthy scratch the past two games, will draw into the lineup in place of Hischier.
