NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils have placed defenceman Steven Santini on injured reserve with a broken jaw.

Santini was hurt Saturday when a puck hit him in the face in the first period against the Philadelphia Flyers. It was his first game of the season.

In addition to placing Santini on the injured list, the Devils announced Monday they had recalled forward Kevin Rooney and defenceman Egor Yakvolev from Binghamton of the AHL.

Devils defenceman Ben Lovejoy missed Saturday’s game with a lower body injury. The team hopes to have him back Thursday, when it plays host to Nashville.
