Devils recall goaltender Cory Schneider from AHL

The New Jersey Devils have recalled goaltender Cory Schneider from the AHL’s Binghamton Devils, the team announced on Thursday.

Schneider has played in 14 games with Binghamton this season going 7-7 with a 2.71 GAA and a .903 save percentage. He was originally placed on waivers back on Nov. 18 after going 0-4-1 to start the season with New Jersey.

The 33-year-old is coming off a strong performance against the Toronto Marlies on Monday, when he made 31 saves on 33 shots. Devils backup Louis Domingue will not be available for Thursday’s game against the San Jose Sharks for precautionary reasons, according to toMike Morreale of NHL.com.

New Jersey also recalled defenceman Dakota Mermis who has 19 points in 53 games in the AHL and has not played in the NHL this season. The team also announced that that defenceman Will Butcher will miss Thursday’s game against the Sharks with an upper-body injury.
