Devils’ Ruutu fined for slew-footing Penguins’ Cullen

Evgeni Malkin had two goals to help the Penguins cruise to a 6-1 victory over the Devils.

New Jersey Devils forward Tuomo Ruutu has been fined $5,000.00 for slew-footing Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cullen.

The play happened during third period of the Penguins’ 6-1 win over the Devils on March 6. Ruutu was assessed a minor penalty for tripping.

Cullen did not appear to be injured on the play and did finish the game for Pittsburgh.

Ruutu has zero points, a minus-six rating, and eight penalty minutes in 23 games this season.
