Devils sign defenceman Joe Morrow to one-year, two-way contract

The New Jersey Devils have signed veteran defenceman Joe Morrow to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal pays Morrow $700,000 at the NHL level.

The Devils have also placed Morrow on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to AHL Binghamton.

Morrow, 26, comes to the Devils from the Winnipeg Jets, where he had one goal and seven points last season. In 162 career games with the Jets, Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins, Morrow has nine goals and 32 points.

The Edmonton native was originally a first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2011. He attended training camp with the New York Rangers this season.
