New Jersey Devils forward Jordin Tootoo has been fined $2,000 as supplementary discipline for diving/embellishment, the National Hockey League announced Thursday.
The incident occurred in a game versus the Detroit Red Wings on January 4.
Tootoo’s forfeited salary will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
More via NHL official release:
Tootoo was issued a Warning following an incident flagged by NHL Hockey Operations during NHL Game No. 75 at New York Rangers on Oct. 18.
His second Citation, which triggered the $2,000 fine, was issued for an incident at 9:39 of the third period during NHL Game No. 583 against Detroit on Jan. 4.
The 32-year-old is the second Devils player to be leveled with supplementary discipline in the last 24 hours. Forward Bobby Farnham was suspended four games for an interference infraction on St. Louis Blues forward Dmitrij Jaskin in a Tuesday night game.
Tootoo has three goals and eight points in 43 games this season.
