Paul MacLean has been named as an assistant coach of the Anaheim Ducks.
The team announced the hiring Tuesday, shortly after news broke of Ducks’ acquisition of Kevin Bieksa in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks.
MacLean spent two and a half seasons as head coach of the Ottawa Senators, leading them to an overall record of 114-90-35. He earned the Jack Adams Award for coach of the year in 2013 before being fired by the team in December 2014.
The 57-year-old coach is no stranger to Anaheim — he spent two seasons as assistant coach with the Ducks from 2002 to 2004.
MacLean will work with head coach Bruce Boudreau and assistant coaches Trent Yawney and Scott Niedermayer.
