The Anaheim Ducks are expected to be without forward Ryan Getzlaf for the next 4-12 days as the 30-year-old has returned home to have an appendectomy, the club announced via release.

Getzlaf will miss Tuesday’s game versus the Dallas Stars and will have a non-emergency appendectomy in Orange County, CA., Wednesday.

Getzlaf, who has been experiencing bouts of discomfort for the past six weeks, has just one assist in eight games so far this season.

The loss of their captain only compounds the Ducks’ problems to begin the 2015-16 campaign. They currently sit tied with the Calgary Flames for last in the Western Conference and have scored just six goals as a team through eight contests.
