Ducks sign Sam Carrick to two-year extension

The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Sam Carrick to a two-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

Carrick split the past season with the AHL affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim, scoring 14 goals and 39 points in 72 games.

He was acquired from the Blackhawks organization at the trade deadline along with Spencer Abbott, for Kenton Helgeson and a seventh-round draft pick.

The 25-year-old was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.

The native of Stouffville, Ont., has one goal and one assist in 19 career NHL games, all with Toronto.
