Dustin Brown, Evgeni Malkin both fined by department of player safety

After getting slashed earlier in the game Dustin Brown showed a bit of frustration, taking out Justin Schultz hard into the boards. Brown was ejected from the game shortly after.

The NHL’s department of player safety has fined both Los Angeles Kings winger Dustin Brown and Pittsburgh Penguins centre Evgeni Malkin for their actions on Thursday night.

Brown got tabbed for $10,000 for his hit from behind on Penguins defenceman Justin Schultz.

Schultz was hurt initially on the play, but passed concussion protocol and returned to the game.

Malkin was fined $5,000 for spearing Brown earlier in the contest.
