Oilers defenceman Potter suspended two games

Edmonton Oilers defenceman Corey Potter put a little too much force into his hit from behind on Nick Bonino, who was sent flying dangerously head first into the boards.

Edmonton Oilers defenceman Corey Potter has been suspended two games by the NHL for checking Nick Bonino from behind in Sunday night’s 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Potter received a major and a game misconduct for checking from behind after hitting Bonino into the boards at 5:40 of the second period.

Bonino went to the locker room after the hit but would later return to the game.
