Ennis: Sabres fans nice for not booing louder

Minnesota Wild newcomer Devan Dubnyk stopped 18 of 18 shots from the Buffalo Sabres, getting a shutout as his team dominated 7-0.

The Buffalo Sabres had a really bad night on Thursday.

A front-runner in the Connor McDavid sweepstakes, the Sabres took on a struggling Minnesota Wild team that seems on the brink of firing its coach and just made a desperate trade in an attempt to upgrade their goaltending situation. That didn’t stop the Sabres from dropping the game by a touchdown.

Buffalo lost 7-0, at home, the worst loss the team has suffered at First Niagara Center, which opened in 1996. For the Wild, it was the most lopsided win the franchise had ever enjoyed.

At the end of the game, the Buffalo faithful did boo their team, but one player thought they had a right to boo even louder.

The Sabres were outshot 37-18 in the game and were limited to only three shots in the first period.

Not even McDavid could have saved this one.
