Former Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Chris DiDomenico has signed with HC Asiago of the Serie A league in Italy.
Drafted 164th overall by the Leafs in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, DiDomenico was traded by the club in 2010, along with Viktor Stalberg and Philippe Paradis, to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Kris Versteeg and Bill Sweatt.
DiDomenico spent the last two seasons in the Chicago Blackhawks organization with American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs and the East Coast Hockey League’s Toledo Walleye. Last season he recorded 13 points in 49 games in the AHL and 17 in 17 games in the ECHL.
DiDomenico won a gold medal with Team Canada in the 2009 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
Shortly after the tournament, DiDomenico — playing for the Drummondville Voltigeurs — suffered a broken femur and kneecap in his left leg during in Game 3 of the 2009 QMJHL finals — forcing him to miss nearly a year of action.
