Former NHLer Sergei Berezin was arrested in Florida Tuesday and has been charged with alleged Medicaid fraud, according to reports.

The 43-year-old former Maple Leafs forward and his wife are among four Russian immigrants being accused of illegally acquiring Medicaid and food stamps. They are currently being held in a jail in Palm Beach County.

Berezin spent the majority of his seven-year NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, registering 126 goals and 220 points in 357 games with the club between 1996 and 2001. He also played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals.
