These rankings are based on past production as well as calculated expectations for the upcoming season. The formula factors in goals, assists, plus/minus, power-play points, shots on goal and penalty minutes for skaters, and wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts for goalies.
A variety of factors such as utilization, contract status and potential are also taken into account while compiling the list.
Finally, these rankings are designed specifically for single-season, non-keeper leagues.
