First look at Phil Kessel in a Penguins jersey

Hugh Burrill reports from Toronto where the Maple Leafs have traded Phil Kessel to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins made quite a splash earlier this summer when they landed sniper Phil Kessel in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Penguins gave fans their first look at the five-time 30-goal scorer in black and gold on Monday via the club’s official Twitter account.

Let’s rundown the Kessel photo checklist. No.81? Check. Perfectly awkward smile? Check. Wrinkled cotton shorts? Check.

Ready the meme machine. Kessel is a beauty.

The Penguins acquired the 27-year-old on July 1 along with forward Tyler Biggs, defenceman Tim Erixon and a 2016 second-round pick from the Maple Leafs in exchange for centre Nick Spaling, forward Kasperi Kapanen, defenceman Scott Harrington, plus first- and third-round picks from 2016.
