Flames activate defenceman Travis Hamonic from IR

The Calgary Flames have activated defenceman Travis Hamonic from injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.

Hamonic, 28, suffered a facial fracture in a fight with Vancouver Canucks defenceman Erik Gudbranson in the Flames’ first game of the season.

In a corresponding move, Calgary has assigned winger Anthony Peluso to AHL Stockton.

The Flames host Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night at 7 p.m. MT/9 p.m. ET.
