Flames claim forward Comeau off waivers

The Calgary Flames have claimed forward Blake Comeau off waivers from the New York Islanders, the club announced on Friday.

“”Blake is a smart, committed, two-way hockey player who kills penalties, is responsible defensively and can score some goals as well,” said Flames GM Jay Feaster. “We have liked this player for a long time, and our scouts and staff are convinced a change is going to be good for him. We are excited to add him to our club without having to give up an asset.”

The 25-year-old is coming off career highs in goals (24), assists (22), points (46), and games played (77) last season with the Islanders. In addition, Comeau notched five powerplay goals and three game winners. He has played 261 career games, all with the Islanders, recording 121 points.
