Calgary Flames goaltender Chad Johnson’s night was cut short on Tuesday after a lower-body injury limited his playing time to just over five minutes.
Johnson made just one save in his short appearance. It’s unclear what caused the injury, but the Flames announced soon after he headed to the dressing room that he would not return.
This was Johnson’s first start since March 23, with the Flames riding the hot streak of starter Brian Elliott. Calgary clinched a post-season berth on March 31 and are now jockeying for position in the tight Pacific Division.
Johnson, whose strong play earlier this season helped the Flames stay in the hunt, currently holds a .910 save percentage with a 2.60 goals against average and three shutouts in his 35 starts this season as the Flames’ backup.
