Flames ink goalie Hiller to two-year contract

Jonas Hiller signed a two-year deal with the Calgary Flames, reuniting with his former GM Brian Burke. His presence is solidifying a quickly improving team.

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames have signed goaltender Jonas Hiller to a two-year, US$9-million deal, his agent tells The Canadian Press.

Hiller made 50 starts in goal for Anaheim last season, posing a 29-13-7 record with five shutouts, a 2.48 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

He is expected to be given an opportunity to become Calgary’s starter next season, competing against Karri Ramo.
