Calgary Flames forward James Neal will miss Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars with an upper-body injury. He will be re-evaluated when the team returns to Calgary.
It’s unclear when Neal suffered the injury. He only took three shifts in the third period of Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Blues, skating a total of 12:56 in that game.
Neal has struggled in the first of a five-year, $28.75-million contract that he signed with the Flames in July. He hasn’t scored a goal since Nov. 1, a span of 19 games, and has three goals and seven points in 34 games this season.
Sam Bennett, who missed Sunday’s game against the Blues, could replace Neal in the lineup, but head coach Bill Peters said Bennett will be a game-time decision.
Centre Jason Spezza will also miss the game for the Stars while he battles an illness.
