The Calgary Flames will be looking for their first win on home ice since December 12 when they play host the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday as -195 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary is coming off a decisive 4-1 win in Winnipeg on Thursday to put an end to a three-game losing slide that featured losses in the team’s past two contests on home ice ahead of Saturday night’s game at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Despite their recent swoon, though, the Flames maintain a narrow two-point lead over the San Jose Sharks atop the Pacific Division standings, and have been among the league’s best home teams this season, compiling an 11-4-3 record.
The Canucks travel to Calgary as +165 underdogs at betting sites after opening a lengthy six-game road trip with a 4-2 win in Edmonton as a +145 bet. With Thursday’s victory, Vancouver has now picked up two points in seven of 10 outings. The Canucks have also won four of five on the road, but have posted just two wins in 12 visits to Calgary since October 2014, according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
Earlier on Saturday, the Oilers try to put the brakes on a four-game slide as they host San Jose as +115 underdogs. Edmonton has been outscored by an 18-8 margin during its current skid, including multi-goal losses in each of its past three home dates.
The Sharks open a three-game road trip in Edmonton as -135 favourites after topping Anaheim 4-2 as -175 road chalk. San Jose failed to gain on Calgary during the Flames’ recent slide, instead posting losses in three straight prior to Thursday’s win, and look to record consecutive wins in Edmonton for the first time since January 2017.
Elsewhere on the Saturday NHL odds, the Winnipeg Jets look to widen their lead atop the Central Division standings as they host the Minnesota Wild on Saturday afternoon as -170 betting favourites.
The Montreal Canadiens try to end a three-game losing streak against Tampa Bay as they visit the Lightning as +215 underdogs, and the Ottawa Senators look to avoid a second home loss to Washington in seven days as they host the Capitals as +170 underdogs. As well, the Toronto Maple Leafs aim for a fourth straight home victory as they host the New York Islanders as -225 favourites.
Winnipeg’s Thursday night loss to the Flames halted a four-game home win streak, but the Jets have been playing some of their best hockey of the season of late, avoiding consecutive losses while winning 11 of 14, and lifting the club to third on the Stanley Cup odds as a +800 wager.
