There are three Canadian teams competing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year all hoping to be the fist club north of the border since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993 to win it all.
According to EA Sports, however, once again the Cup won’t be coming to Canada as all three Red and White hopefuls will be in for premature ends this post-season.
Utilizing the latest iteration of their annual EA Sports NHL video game, NHL 19, EA Sports did a simulation of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs and is predicting fist-round exits for the Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets.
The simulation states that both Flames and Leafs will go down to the Colorado Avalanche and Boston Bruins in six games in each of their respective series, and that the Jets will fall in seven games to the St. Louis Blues.
In regards to the rest of the simulation, the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning managed to complete their quest and win the franchise’s second-ever Stanley Cup championship, defeating the Blues in seven games.
Leading the way for the Lightning in this simulation was this season’s leading scorer, Nikita Kucherov, whose strong regular season turned into a Conn Smythe-winning post-season.
