Flames’ Mike Smith out vs. Red Wings with injury; Gillies recalled

HC at Noon discussion on Calgary Flames goalie Mike Smith leaving Monday's game with injury, but the fact that he came back to sit on the bench was very encouraging.

The Calgary Flames won’t have Mike Smith in net Wednesday for their road game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Smith, who was removed during Monday’s win over St. Louis, travelled to Detroit, but isn’t healthy enough to dress. Jon Gillies has been recalled from AHL Stockton to take his place.

Smith, 35, is 9-6 with a 2.63 goals-against average and .921 save percentage this season, his first with the Flames. He’s started 16 of 17 games for Calgary.
