Flames sign Wotherspoon to entry level contract

The Calgary Flames have signed defenceman Tyler Wotherspoon to a three-year, $925,000 entry level contract.

Wotherspoon had career highs in points (37) and assists (30) with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, recording a plus-62 rating for the league’s top team.

The 6-foot-2, 200 pound blue liner has two goals and two assists in five playoff games this post-season as the Winterhawks are currently leading Everett three games to two.

Wotherspoon represented Canada at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championships, scoring a goal and adding an assist in six games.

The Flames drafted Wotherspoon 57th overall of the 2011 NHL Draft.
