Flames’ T.J. Brodie a game-time decision vs. Penguins

Mark Giordano spoke about seeing TJ Brodie on the ice for a skate and how surprised he was to see Brodie be so eager to return to game action.

Calgary Flames defenceman T.J. Brodie, who has been out of the lineup since he collapsed on the ice mid-practice and began convulsing last Thursday, is a game-time decision in the Flames’ matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

The 29-year-old was rushed to hospital following the incident but was released later that same day. Flames team physician Dr. Ian Auld indicated during a press conference on Nov. 15 that it’s likely Brodie fainted.

Brodie joined the Flames in Philadelphia earlier this week, and has been seen skating on his own, but an exact timetable for his return had not been solidified.

“T.J. has been working out for the past several days and today skated on his own under the supervision of our medical staff,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving said in a statement. “Over this past week he has had consultations with appropriate specialists in Calgary. To date all medical evaluations and testing have been reassuring.”

In 21 games this season, Brodie has eight assists while averaging 19:13 time on ice per game.
