Flames thank Oilers on Twitter after Kings’ loss

The Calgary Flames were thrilled with Tuesday's results.

It’s not often the Calgary Flames find themselves cheering for the Edmonton Oilers, but Tuesday night was an exception.

The Flames, who are battling with the Los Angeles Kings for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, had to be thrilled with Tuesday’s results. Calgary picked up two points after beating the Arizona Coyotes while the defending Stanley Cup champions fell 4-2 to the Oilers.

In fact, the Flames were so happy they even thanked the Oilers on Twitter.

Flames coach Bob Hartley, however, played coy with the media after the game as they tried to get a reaction out of him by giving updates on the Oilers game, which was reaching conclusion.

The Flames have a two-point lead over Los Angeles in the Pacific Division standings. They also have the edge in regulation wins.

The Kings and Flames face off Thursday night in Calgary.
