The Calgary Flames will be looking to put the brakes on a 2-4-1 run that leaves them on the outside of the NHL playoff picture when they open a two-game Eastern Canada road trip in Toronto on Wednesday as +130 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Calgary hits the road after handing the Philadelphia Flyers their first victory in 11 games in Monday’s 5-2 loss as -142 road chalk, and has now surrendered 16 total goals in its past four outings going into Wednesday night’s Flames versus Maple Leafs betting matchup at Air Canada Centre.

The Flames’ current swoon has dumped them to fifth place in the Pacific Division with 29 points and leaves the club stalled as a distant +3300 bet on the Stanley Cup odds.

The Maple Leafs make a brief stop at home as -150 chalk after falling 2-1 to the Canucks as -147 road favourites on Saturday night. The loss dropped Toronto to 2-1-0 during a three-game swing through Western Canada which kicks off a crucial stretch of 12 road games in 15 outings that ends on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas.

Toronto dominated in a 4-1 victory in Calgary as a +106 wager last week, and has compiled a respectable 9-5-1 road record this season. However, the Maple Leafs have turned in mixed results on home ice, scoring two or fewer goals on four occasions during a 4-4-0 run. In addition, the UNDER has gone 3-1-1 in Toronto’s past five home games for totals bettors.

In other NHL betting action on Wednesday night, the Edmonton Oilers look to win consecutive games for just the third time this season as they host the Flyers as -150 home favourites, while the Ottawa Senators try to rebound from their worst beating of the season as they continue a six-game road trip in Anaheim as +125 underdogs.

The Oilers squandered a 6-1 third-period lead but hung on to tally a 7-5 win in Calgary as +132 underdogs on Saturday night to record their fourth victory in six outings. Edmonton has won four of six, but owns a meagre 5-8-0 home record, and faces a Flyers squad searching for wins in consecutive road games for the first time since late January.

The Senators are coming off a 5-0 blowout loss in Winnipeg as +152 underdogs on Sunday, and have been held to a single goal in five of seven road dates with the Ducks, going 2-5-0 during that stretch.
