The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a two-year deal with goaltender Alex Lyon, avoiding arbitration with the restricted free agent.

The 25-year-old netminder made 11 appearances as a rookie in 2017-18, posting a 4-2-1 record with a 2.75 goals-against average (GAA) and .905 save percentage.

Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Yale in 2016, Lyon played in 27 regular-season games for the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms this past season with a 16-8-2 with a 2.77 GAA and .911 save percentage.

The Baudette, Minn., native featured in 11 post-season games for the Phantoms, which included backstopping Lehigh Valley to a 2-1 win in the longest game in AHL history. Lyon made 94 saves in a 2-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers in a contest that featured five overtime periods.
