Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Andrew MacDonald will be out for the next six weeks with a lower-body injury.

The team says MacDonald suffered the injury during an off-season workout.

The 32-year-old had six goals and 21 points in 66 games this past season.

He has two years remaining on his contract, carrying a $5-million cap hit.
