Flyers’ Brandon Manning to have hearing for hit on Guentzel

Brandon Manning caught Jake Guentzel with what appeared to be a massive hit to the head, but no penalty was called on the play.

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Brandon Manning will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for his hit on Jake Guentzel on Saturday night.

The hearing will take place Monday morning.

Manning drove hard into Guentzel who redirected a pass to his feet but did not have possession of the puck. The Penguins defenceman did not appear to see Manning coming his way.

No penalty was called on the play.
