Flyers’ Brian Elliott to miss two weeks with lower-body injury

Devils' Kyle Palmieri scored a nice wrap around goal against the Flyers, on the play Brain Elliott appears to injure himself.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be without goaltender Brian Elliott for at least two weeks while he recovers from a lower-body injury.

Elliott left Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils partway through the third period. The injury occurred when he stretched across his crease to make a save on a Kyle Palmieri wraparound. Palmieri scored on the play and Elliott had to be helped off the ice.

In 14 games this season, Elliott has a 6-7-0 record with a 2.59 goals-against average and .911 save-percentage.

The Flyers are already without goaltender Michal Neuvirth, who hasn’t appeared in a game since Oct. 27. With Elliott now out, the Flyers will be using waiver wire pickup Calvin Pickard and Alex Lyon, who was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley earlier Friday.
