Flyers’ Del Zotto to miss start of season with lower-body injury

The Philadelphia Flyers scored three goals in the third period to defeat the New York Rangers 4-2 at MSG on Thursday.

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Michael Del Zotto will miss the next four to five weeks with a lower-body injury, general manager Ron Hextall announced Friday.

Del Zotto played in Thursday’s preseason game against the New York Rangers, playing more than 16 minutes. He hasn’t played in a regular season game since Feb. 13, having missed the end of last season with a wrist injury.

The injury announcement comes on day after the Flyers announced forward Scott Laughton and defenceman Brandon Manning will also miss the start of the season with injuries.
