Flyers’ Streit to undergo surgery for pubic plate detachment

Jason Chimera had two goals and an assist to lead the Washington Capitals to a 5-2 victory over the slumping Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Mark Streit will undergo surgery for a pubic plate detachment, the team announced Saturday.

He is expected to miss six weeks.

This is Streit’s third season with the Flyers. The 37-year-old has three goals and six assists and ranks second on the team in points after 16 games this year. His average time on ice of 22:46 per game is second among Flyers defencemen.
