Flyers’ JVR dealing with effects of concussion

Philadelphia Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk isn’t recovering from his concussion as well as he would like.

The 22-year-old is suffering from post-concussion syndrome and likely won’t return to the Flyers lineup in the near future because he feels like he is “in a fog,” according to Flyers beat writer Sam Carchidi.

Van Riemsdyk suffered blows to the head in back-to-back games in mid-January, was diagnosed with a concussion on Jan. 14, and hasn’t played since.

“His status is the same. He is out indefinitely,” Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren told philly.com. “I don’t know. I’ve continued to say, ‘Who knows?’ on this. Does that mean it’s a setback, who knows? His status is the same.”

In 37 games with the Flyers this season, the second-overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft has 11 goals and 11 assists.
