Calgary Flames star Johnny Gaudreau has rejoined the team after taking a two-game leave of absence due to a family matter and will play Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers.

Gaudreau’s father, Guy, suffered a cardiac event last weekend, prompting Johnny to fly home to New Jersey. Guy is doing much better and will be watching Saturday’s game (after a lengthy nap).

Gaudreau said he was thankful for all the support sent his way during the difficult time for him and his family.

“It’s great to be back,” Gaudreau told reporters. “It’s good to see the guys. There was a lot of text messages, tweets from fans, friends, family, people from Calgary and from New Jersey and across the country just supporting our family.

“We have a pretty tight group in here, it’s a pretty close family in here,” he added of his teammates. “And it was great to get the support from them.”
