Don’t expect to see Erik Haula back in the Vegas Golden Knights lineup anytime soon.
The team’s head coach, Gerard Gallant, told reporters Wednesday the centre is considered “month-to-month” as he recovers from a lower-body injury.
Haula, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday retroactive to Nov. 6, sustained the injury a week ago during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs during which he fell awkwardly on his right leg.
The exact nature of Haula’s injury has not been stated publicly by the team, but it was serious enough at the time that he was required to be stretchered off the ice.
Haula registered a career-high 29 goals and 55 points in his first season with the Golden Knights and began the 2018-19 campaign with seven points through 15 games.
Gallant added that Paul Stastny, who has been out with a lower-body injury since Oct. 8, is “not close” to returning either.
Vegas has gotten off to a disappointing 7-10-1 start following an improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final in the franchise’s inaugural season. The Golden Knights host the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.
