Golden Knights give Shipachyov permission to seek trade

HC at Noon's Nick Kypreos says we don't think Vegas Golden Knights will win their division or anything, but in this salary cap era, they can be in the mix, because of the lack of roster depth on all the other teams.

The Vegas Golden Knights have given permission to forward Vadim Shipachyov‘s representatives to ask other teams for a trade.

Shipachyov, 30, was assigned to AHL Chicago on Tuesday for the second time this season. He came over to the NHL for the first time this season after finishing third in the KHL in points with 76 last year.

The Golden Knights signed him to a two-year, $9 million contract in May with the intention to make him their No. 1 centre. But a surplus of contracts have made it difficult for Shipachyov to get into the lineup. He had one goal in three games with the Golden Knights.

The Montreal Canadiens, who are tied for second-to-last with only 18 goals so far this season, will not be trading for Shipachyov according to Sportsnet’s Eric Engels.
