Gotta See It: He may not be able to score goals – or a goal – in 2013, but Drew Doughty can execute a body-check with the best of ’em.
Watch the Los Angeles Kings D-man line up Alex Goligoski at the blue line as the Dallas Stars defenceman enters the Kings’ zone and deliver what the Stars’ television commentator so tastefully describes as a “rectum-rattling blast.” Wow.
Add the Goligoski rattler to Doughty’s railroading of Pavel Datsyuk last month, and the 23-year-old has more GOTTA SEE IT hits than he has goals (0) this season.
After 22 games, Doughty has yet to light the lamp once despite averaging 26 minutes and 16 seconds of ice time per game, third most in the entire league.
Although he has 10 assists, Doughty’s goal-less streak is starting to eat at him.
“It’s in my head too often. I want to get that goal really bad,” he told NHL.com. “It’s not that I’m cheating or doing anything different to try and get it. I’m still just playing my solid defensive game and if I have that opportunity, I’ll try to put one in the net. Yeah, it’s frustrating.”
Doughty may not have scored a goal, but he just leveled Goligoski who’s slow to get up. #hockeygame
