Gotta See It: Not sure we’ll ever grow tired of watching the type of bodycheck where a guy launches his opponent into the enemy bench.
Not five minutes into the Flames- Stars game Monday night, Stars forward Loui Eriksson is carrying the puck into the Calgary zone, but Flames winger Curtis Glencross – backchecking like his name is not Sergei Kostitsyn — is angling his opponent towards the boards.
Running out of real estate, Eriksson dishes a pass and is immediately sent over the boards and into the Flames’ bench by Glencross.
Eriksson is dumped right upside-down, his skates flying over Glencross’s shoulder.
Of course, as is mandatory when an opponent is checked into your bench, he gets an extra shot. A seated Jay Bouwmeester gets in a bonus shove of Eriksson, whose head invades Bouwmeester’s personal space.
Unfortunately for the Flames, the check might have awakened the beast.
Eriksson scored a pair of goals and led the Stars to a 4-3 victory; the Flames have now lost their last seven games on the road.
