Gotta See It: Elias’s no-look 900th point

Gotta See It: Only three active NHL players have scored 900 points all with a single team, and none has done so as quietly as New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias.

The under-appreciated winger joined the Calgary Flames’ Jarome Iginla and the Ottawa Senators’ Daniel Alfredsson in the 900-for-one-club, uh, club (both Alfie and Iggy have already passed the 1,000 mark) Sunday with a remarkable three-point effort.

Though the Devils would lose the game in overtime, the 36-year-old Elias helped earn his Atlantic-leading team a standings point as his nifty no-look pass to Dainius Zubrus ties the game at three late in the third period. Prior to the assist, Elias works a nice little back-and-forth passing with David Clarkson behind Carey Price’s net to help set up his setup.

Elias, a 16-season vet who is off to a hot start with six points in just four games, becomes just the second Czech player (Jaromir Jagr the other) to reach the 900-point mark. New Jersey’s all-time points leader is well ahead of retired runner-up John MacLean (701 points) and ranks 96th all time.
