Swiss hockey club SC Bern picked up a 4-3 win over Biel on Friday in National League action, but it’s rather remarkable that the final score was not 5-3.
Bern winger Martin Plüss missed an uncontested empty net with just over a minute remaining in regulation. Wide open. On a breakaway. Unbelievable.
Luckily, Plüss scored earlier in the game with a goaltender in the net, if you can believe it. It’s a safe wager that his inexplicable miss was a source of much ribbing from his teammates.
The 38-year-old Swiss star has eight goals and 16 points in 28 games this season.
