Gotta See It: The Reimer, Cuthbert ‘death glare’

James Reimer's wife, April (bottom left), and Dion Phaneuf's fiancee, Elisha Cuthbert, exchange a glance after their better halves combine to surrender the overtime goal in Game 4 of the Leafs-Bruins series.

It’s official.

April Reimer has supplanted Tami Holtby as the NHL playoffs’ “Best Relative of a Canadian Goalie to Gather Reaction Shots From.”

And, no, April is not the sister of Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James. She is his wife:

The friends and family section of the Air Canada Centre logged plenty of screen time during Game 4’s thriller, but no clip saw more views or garnered more reaction than April Reimer and actress Elisha Cuthbert, fiancee of Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf, exchanging a look following the Boston Bruins’ overtime game-winning goal:

Phaneuf was caught pinching on the play and later claimed responsibility for the game-ending mistake. But James Reimer also allowed David Krejci to beat him short side.

So it makes for a fun, gossipy story that their respective better halves would shoot each other a death glare immediately afterward.

But as April cleared up on Twitter, it was a rude jerk next to them that sparked her gone-viral eye-roll. (Random guess: Perhaps the guy who wears a North Stars hat to attend the most important Leafs game in nine years?)

Regardless, the two ladies hugged it out afterward:

Update: For those scoring at home, April Reimer tells Sportsnet magazine’s Dan Robson it wasn’t the dude in the North Stars hat who made the rude comment:
