When the NHL draft swings around in June, the biggest prize will be Connor McDavid, who is expected to go No. 1 overall. But the No. 2 ranked prospect isn’t so bad either.
American Jack Eichel has a supreme skill set of his own that he’s used to dominate the NCAA circuit. In 35 games with Boston University this season, Eichel has 22 goals and 63 points and was one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award.
On Saturday, Eichel flashed his greatness against UMass Lowell in the Hockey East Championship game. Watch as the 18-year-old native of North Chelmsford, Mass., bounces off one check and nimbly dekes the puck toward the night and through the goalie. We’ve seen out fair share of amazing Connor McDavid highlights north of the border this season, and this Eichel highlight will rival those.
Eichel scored two goals and an assist as Boston University took the title with a 5-3 win. He was also named MVP of the tournament after scoring 11 points in four games.
