Gotta See It: Peter Budaj’s new Ned Flanders, Thor-themed goalie mask

Paul Byron and Max Pacioretty scored two each, Patrick Kane cannot be stopped and Joe Pavelski led the Sharks to another win.

Tampa Bay Lightning backup goaltender Peter Budaj, nicknamed Ned Flanders for being a devout Christian, got a new design for his goalie mask blending The Simpsons’ favourite neighbourino with something closer to the new team he plays for, Thor.

Irony of crossing over a pure Christian character like Ned Flanders with Thor, the Norse god of Thunder, not withstanding, the design by David Gunnarsson, A.K.A. @davidofdaveart on Instagram, is pretty cool. Check it out here:

Budaj was traded to the Lightning ahead of the March 1 trade deadline as part of the deal that sent Ben Bishop to the Los Angeles Kings. Through 53 games with L.A. and one with the Lightning, the 34-year-old has put up a 27-21-3 record with a 2.16 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.
