A couple of Philadelphia’s finest came together on Wednesday to prove the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ moniker still rings true.
During a segment with Philadelphia radio station 97.5 The Fanatic, former 76ers star Charles Barkley showed off a signed jersey from none other than Flyers great – and current general manager – Ron Hextall.
It seems Hextall’s offering was more than just a formal gesture, however, as the 1987 Vezina Trophy winner dubbed Barkley his “all-time favourite NBA player” on the jersey’s inscription.
Barkley suited up for the 76ers from 1984-92, overlapping with the majority of Hextall’s tenure in the city, which ran from 1986-99, minus a brief two-season stint that took him through Quebec and Long Island.
